How to Cheat and Beat Your Video Game Console

Console Game Cheat codes such as PS2 cheats, Xbox cheats, PlayStation 2 cheats, PlayStation cheats, Gamecube cheats, Xbox cheat codes, cheat codes Xbox, and Dreamcast cheats are codes that are entered into a video game so as to change the game's behavior.
While it is relatively unknown when this practice started, it is a known fact that these codes were used and implemented by game developers, to test and play certain particular aspects of their games. For instance a common example would be using a cheat code to skip to another level of the game.

What do Game Cheats do?

Possibilities appear endless in the field of electronic video games. From basic two dimensional actions, video games have evolved to full 3D worlds. Often it is hard to identify the difference between the real thing and a rendered image found in a video game. Some of the popular cheats- are PS2 cheats, Xbox cheats, PlayStation 2 cheats, PlayStation cheats, Gamecube cheats, Xbox cheat codes, cheat codes Xbox, Dreamcast cheats-, codes, and Easter eggs.
Cheats
A cheat is defined as a kind of process, a code tweak, a hack, or the exploitation of a glitch that allows the player to engage in a sort of behavior that is not intended within the context of the game console. Cheating, in such a scenario, could mean killing another player's character where /when he would not be vulnerable, by taking items that belong to another player, or though duplication of legitimate items, or knowing something that was never intended to be known so that the person using the cheat gets an edge in competitive play. In other words, it is simply exploiting the weaknesses/loopholes in the game's architecture.

A popular example of this is Diablo's Townkill Cheat. The initial stage in Diablo was supposed to be a safe haven where game players could not attack each other. So even though there was no possibility of attacking other players, it was however possible for hackers to force the game console to send the message which conveyed "I hit you for 20 points in damages". Other computers involved in the game, through Diablo's network, accepted the message and meekly subtracted the 20 hit points from their character.
Cheat Codes
A cheat code is often a password or a sort of button combination which triggers off an event or an effect within the video game. Cheat codes can be the most simplistic at times, such as
  • Adding ammunition to a gun
  • Beating difficult opponents
  • Accessing alternate endings
  • Getting "life" or "healing" points
  • Increasing a game character's health or
  • Changing the character to a totally different character.
Easter Egg
An Easter egg is a term coined to denote a surprise that is hidden within the game. While its history is not yet established the players of video game consoles seem to enjoy searching for them, and many developers continue to add them to their games.
Cheat Devices
There are also cheat devices, in addition to those cheats that could be entered through a keyboard or a controller. These items of software or hardware are created exclusively for the purpose of helping video gamers to enter cheat codes, or to modify the game's contents. Some of the really popular cheat devices used for these purposes are Code Breaker, Action Replay, and Game Shark.
